I received the following information from Dr. Peter Brand (University of Memphis) regarding the new website for the Karnak Hypostyle Hall Project:

Καινοτόμο διατμηματικό πρόγραμμα δια βίου μάθησης στην Αιγυπτιολογία!

Το Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου και η Αιγυπτιολογική Ομάδα Έρευνας - University of the Aegean Egyptological Research Group (UAERG) αναγγέλλει την έναρξη από 1ης Οκτωβρίου εκπαιδευτικού προγράμματος δια βίου μάθησης στην Αιγυπτιολογία και τους πολιτισμούς του Αιγαίου με τίτλο «Αρχαία Αίγυπτος και Αιγαιακός Κόσμος: ιστορικές, αρχαιολογικές και εκπαιδευτικές προσεγγίσεις».

Πρόκειται για ένα καινοτόμο, διαπανεπιστημιακό και διαθεματικό πρόγραμμα επιμόρφωσης και εξειδίκευσης, το οποίο εστιάζει στην αρχαιολογία, την ιστορία, τις κοινωνικές και θρησκευτικές δομές της αρχαίας Αιγύπτου και του Αιγαιακού κόσμου, αναδεικνύοντας σημαίνοντα στοιχεία πολιτισμικής επικοινωνίας και αλληλεπίδρασης. Το Πρόγραμμα ακολουθεί μεθοδολογία που υποστηρίζει την Ανοικτή και Εξ Αποστάσεως μάθηση. Η μελέτη πραγματοποιείται κυρίως ασύγχρονα και ατομικά στη βάση της αυτόνομης και ανεξάρτητης επεξεργασίας του εκπαιδευτικού υλικού. Επιπλέον, υποστηρίζεται η οργάνωση ομάδων εργασίας και μελέτης με τη δημιουργία «βημάτων συζήτησης» (discussion forums) για ασύγχρονη επικοινωνία ή «δωματίων συζητήσεων» (chat rooms) για συζήτηση σε πραγματικό χρόνο και ανταλλαγή απόψεων. Η επικοινωνία, η συμβουλευτική και η στήριξη των επιμορφούμενων γίνεται ηλεκτρονικά (ασύγχρονα και σύγχρονα), ανάλογα με τις εκάστοτε ανάγκες του προγράμματος.

Το Πρόγραμμα είναι διαρθρωμένο σε 3 Θεματικούς Κύκλους σπουδών και χαρακτηρίζεται από μεγάλη ελαστικότητα στην επιλογή των μαθημάτων, που μπορεί να περιλαμβάνει έναν ή περισσότερους κύκλους ή φυσικά ολόκληρο το πρόγραμμα.

• Πρώτος Θεματικός Κύκλος: «Ιστορικές-Αρχαιολογικές-Θρησκειολογικές προσεγγίσεις»
• Δεύτερος Θεματικός Κύκλος: «Εκπαιδευτικές προσεγγίσεις»
• Τρίτος Θεματικός Κύκλος: «Αιγυπτιακά Ιερογλυφικά»

Οι Καθηγητές που θα διδάξουν προέρχονται από τα ακόλουθα Πανεπιστήμια και Ερευνητικά Ινστιτούτα:

• Τμήμα Μεσογειακών Σπουδών, Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου,
• Τμήμα Αιγυπτιολογίας, Πανεπιστήμιο Βόννης,
• Κέντρο Αιγυπτιολογίας και Μεσογειακής Αρχαιολογίας, Πανεπιστήμιο Swansea,
• Τμήμα Κλασικών και Μεσογειακών Σπουδών, Πανεπιστήμιο Ιλινόις (Σικάγο),
• Τμήμα Ιστορίας, Πανεπιστήμιο Σακραμέντο,

Τα δίδακτρα είναι συνάρτηση του θεματικού κύκλου που θα επιλέξει κανείς, και παρέχονται σχετικές διευκολύνσεις, λαμβάνοντας υπόψη την τρέχουσα οικονομική συγκυρία. Με την ολοκλήρωση της επιμόρφωσης, χορηγείται Πιστοποιητικό επιτυχούς παρακολούθησης με τη σφραγίδα του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου, και με ρητή αναφορά στο συγκριμένο μαθησιακό περιεχόμενο και τη χρονική διάρκεια παρακολούθησης. Το Πιστοποιητικό αναγνωρίζεται ως ένα επιπλέον προσόν από φορείς και επιχειρήσεις στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, καθώς παρέχεται από ένα Πανεπιστήμιο με το κύρος του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου. Παράλληλα το Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου έχει προβεί σε όλες τις απαραίτητες ενέργειες για την πιστοποίηση και τη μοριοδότηση φοίτησης στα επιμέρους προγράμματα από όλους τους αρμόδιους στην Ελλάδα φορείς.

Evil Spirits, Monsters and Benevolent Protectors: Demonology in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, ISAW, New York, 23 April 2012

The origin, nature, and function of supernatural beings, conventionally called 'demons,' in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, has not yet been clearly defined. This workshop, organized by Visiting Research Scholar Rita Lucarelli, brings together scholars of Egyptology, History of Religion, and Near Eastern Studies to perform a cross-cultural analysis of textual, iconographical, and material sources in an attempt to further develop a comparative study of demonology focused on the ancient Mediterranean world and Near East.
